Ambrice and Ben’s home is an amazing example of how to combine modern with traditional styles seamlessly. Drawing inspiration from its history, Ambrice and Ben have combined their aesthetics by drawing on it for inspiration while adding pops of culture and color in every room – something Ambrice describes as having fun doing. “Given my African-American roots and Ben’s English-Welsh background, we love mixing things up!” she states.
Ambrice and her husband have transformed their Suffolk home into an impressive blend of old and new elements, starting with its Georgian architecture from the 1700’s – once serving as the malt master’s headquarters – into something spectacular since they moved in 13 years ago. Ambrice describes this journey as being “an emotional one but absolutely worth every bit of effort”, she admits that restoring it has been “an effort but we wouldn’t trade it for anything”.
Ambrice renovated their kitchen to give it an elegant new look by painting cabinets, sanding and refinishing floors, replacing fixtures and installing whimsical ‘Bobbin’ chairs from Relic business and installing hyperrealist paintings by Ramadhan Hamis above their dining table. Furthermore, they installed a Lacanche range cooker which can cook an entire turkey in two hours.
Outside, Ambrice has made her garden truly hers with an impressive collection of antique sculptures and antique furniture, including a life-sized brass equine statue and two Persian rugs from her travels through Asia. A Murano glass chandelier and oval landscape painting add extra flare and shine.
Before joining BlackRock, Ambrice held various roles at Bank of America. Beginning as a Project Management Associate in Charlotte, North Carolina and moving onto lead the Global Record and Information Management project team before eventually serving as GRM Risk and Compliance Policy Implementation Manager for European Markets EMEA region, she held various responsibilities with Bank.
